Retinaldehyde Hydroxysomes from Laboratory Skin Care

Laboratory Skin Care, Inc. (stand 679) has developed a novel method for co-engineering retinaldehyde (retinal) with its patented Hydroxysomes dermal delivery platform. Retinal is a direct precursor to retinoic acid providing the same therapeutic benefits as retinoic acid while eliminating skin irritation. However, it is highly unstable in its pure form. Hydroxysomes stabilize retinaldehyde for use in topical formulations.

According to LSC, topical application of retinol only delivers 2% of the retinoids into the skin; the remaining retinol pool remains on the skin causing irritation. In contrast, retinaldehyde is 20x more potent than retinol, and it is not irritating

Hydroxysomes Adenosine delivers calcium to the skin which enhances the effect of adenosine. Delivering adenosine and calcium simultaneously provides integrated anti-aging properties for younger looking skin, according to LSC.

Adenosine is found throughout the body controlling a number of essential processes. In the skin, it has the ability to stimulate fibroblasts, which promotes collagen and elastin regeneration. Adenosine is believed to be an effective anti- inflammatory agent. In sum, Hydroxysomes Adenosine provides increased bioavailability, sustained release, and collagen & elastin regeneration.
